Ministerial intervention
A request to the Minister after a Tribunal decision, under the current Ministerial Instructions.

Who it is for
People who have received a Tribunal decision and want the Minister to substitute a more favourable decision in the public interest.
Key eligibility
- A Tribunal decision is needed first.
- The Minister's powers are personal, non-compellable and have no timeframe.
- Ministerial Instructions issued in September 2025 replaced the 2016 guidelines. Requests are referred to the Minister only if they meet the criteria in those Instructions.
- Requests must be in writing with evidence and translations.
